A: Summit Estimating will review your adjuster’s worksheet and work with you on finding what we can to increase the scope of repairs.

Q: How do I know if the insurance covered my loss fairly?
A: Insurance carrier have two goals when you file a claim. First, they want to settle your claim as quickly as possible. Second, they want to settle it for as little money as possible. It is extremely rare to find a claim that was done to the standard of an experienced Summit Estimator.

Q: What is Xactimate?
A: Xactimate is the insurance industry’s number one tool for settling an insurance claim. Xactimate is the industry’s most trusted estimating and supplementing tool. It is the platform used by 22 of the 25 major insurance carriers in North America.

Q: What is the Adjuster’s Worksheet?
A: The Adjuster’s Worksheet is most commonly referred to as the Insurance Estimate. It provides a detailed breakdown of the work needing to be performed per the insurance adjuster (though this may not necessarily be everything that actually needs to be performed).

Q: My adjuster told me to file a supplement if items are found “outside of their approved scope of work”. What is a “supplement”?
A: A supplement is anything that is needed to repair the damage associated with the claim that was not included on the approved insurance estimate.

Q: What is the difference between the service of supplement writing and the service of estimate writing Summit Estimating offers?
A: A supplement is written after you’ve received the adjusters worksheet from the insurance company. It is used when the original estimate from the insurance carrier has inaccuracies. It is the amount gained from the original insurance offer to the true job scope/cost. Choose this option if you have already received an offer from your insurance carrier for your claim.

An Estimate is written for the full and total job associated with the claim. It is the total scope/cost of the entire job. Choose this option

Q: Who will write my supplement, estimate, and/or negotiate with my carrier (depending on service)?
A: Summit Estimating’s estimators are seasoned industry experts. Our estimators have spent time in one or more of the following arenas: contractor, adjuster, and/or project manager.

Q: Did did my insurance company pay fairly for my claim?
A: Often we find items line items missing, pricing discrepancies, code items being left off, to name a few. Adjusters are paid to get your claim closed as quickly as possible with as little paid to the insured as possible. In short, there is a good chance the scope of work proposed by your adjuster is incomplete.

A: If you are a homeowner, our supplement service is $300 or 20% of approved gain, whichever is greater. Our Homeowner estimating service costs $350 or 12% of the total estimate, whichever is greater. Contractor pricing is as such:

Supplement:

1-5 per month – $300 or 20% of approved gain, whichever is greater
